the first "Last" cake

I'm not in to sweets much, neither is my husband that's why i never made an afford to learn to bake cakes or cookies. But when I visit cooking sites that offer various easy-to-bake and yummy looking recipes of cakes I start wishing to try some of them. So yesterday i decided to bake a cake. I picked the recipe that seemed to me the easiest and with ingredients that I had at home. It was cake with meringue, so in order to make meringue the recipe said to whip egg whites and add some sugar. Since it was my first experience with meringue i didn't know that sugar needs to be added after hard whipping in small amounts. I added sugar at the beginning which ruined the concept of making meringue. I called a friend and asked if there was any way to fix it, she suggested to add some yogurt, more sugar, yolks, butter and flour and bake it at the 180 t C for 30 minutes. I did as she said and got pretty good looking crust for a cake. Then i made cream from butter and condensed milk. I cut the crust in to 3 parts, 1 part i cut in to little cubes. I collected 2 parts of the crust by smearing cream between them, the cubes i mixed with cream and put on the top of the cake. Further I turned my fantasy on and decorated it with mandarin, made dots with cherry jam and randomly dropped melted chocolate over the cake.
Voila! it was ready!

But you don't know what it cost me! My dear little son was getting sleepy, he began to be capricious and started to make a fuss. DH used all his means to entertain our son; carried him on his back, played with toys, read the books... So at the end of the day I had tired hubby, sleepy and hungry toddler, messy living room with no spot to step and mountain of dirty dishes. haha!
We didn't eat the cake that day since it was late, 10:30 p.m.
In the morning I made a tea and cut our cake. After having a bite i said:
-hmmmm, well, it tastes ok for the first time, ha?
DH:
- for the first AND the last time, honey.
And we both laughed.
Anyhow, I say "Alhamdulillaahi-l-lazee at'amana haza wa rozaqtaneehi min g'oyri hawli-m-minni wa laa quwwah"
(All praise is for Allaah who fed me this and provided it for me without any might nor power from myself).

the smell of spring... aahhh alhamdulillah!

assalam alaikum
It is still winter but these two last weeks we are having sunny days, alhamdulillah. The sky is blue and the sun is shining brightly, the wind is blowing fresh air and you can clearly smell the spring!
I love spring, it is the best time of the year for me. The weather is very welcoming, it is not very hot and not very cold, you can go for a walk almost everyday. Trees dress up in their beautiful white and pink gowns, birds start singing, and earth becomes green...
Alhamdulillaah, Alhamdulillah, yaa Allaah, I'm grateful to You for giving me ability to admire the Beauty You have Bestowed on Earth, for Creating this Planet with its amazingly beautiful Nature, for making me Your slave who has submitted herself to You, and only You, and for countless Blessings You've showered on me...
